Special events that utilize Melbourne public streets require permits issued by the City Clerk's Office.

Provided on this page are links to materials that reflect the nature and scope of permits that have been issued for upcoming events.

Maps are provided to indicate the areas to be affected by the event activities. Complete permit records are maintained by the City Clerk's Office.

City of Melbourne Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration

  • Date: 07/04/2017 8:00 PM - 9:30 PM

Date: July 4, 2017 (***The rain date for this event is July 5***)

Hours: Road closures will begin at 8:00 p.m. The fireworks will begin at 9:00 p.m. Shortly after the roads are closed and prior to the actual fireworks display, the Air Sports Parachute Team will conduct a flag jump and will land at various locations on the Melbourne Causeway.

Location: Fireworks will be launched from Geiger Point. The optimum viewing area will be from Front Street Park. The following streets will be closed:

  • Strawbridge Avenue (U.S. 192) from U.S. 1 to Riverside Drive (Indialantic)
  • New Haven Avenue from U.S. 1 east to Strawbridge Avenue (U.S. 192)
  • Riverview Drive and Palmetto Avenue
  • Front Street at Melbourne Avenue

Parking: This will not be a paid parking event. Public parking will be available at no cost. The City Hall parking garage will not be available as a public viewing area. Park and ride services will be available from the Melbourne Auditorium to Front Street Park. (Park and ride services will not be available if the event occurs on the rain date of July 5.)
