The City of Melbourne is seeking volunteers to serve on its Code Enforcement Board.
The
Code Enforcement Board promotes, protects, and improves the health, safety and welfare of citizens; enhances property values by enforcing city codes; applies appropriate remedies; and promotes compliance. Activities include the imposition of fines and other non-criminal penalties where a pending or repeated violation continues to exist.
This is a quasi-judicial board. Members sit as judges and make decisions based on the evidence and testimony presented during meetings.
Applicants must be City of Melbourne residents and registered to vote. The Code Enforcement Board meets approximately every six weeks at 6 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chamber.
