Rachael BassettRachael Bassett was elected to office on November 8, 2022, by the city at large to serve on the Melbourne City Council as the representative of District 4. She will serve a four-year term, which ends in November 2026. 

Rachael was born in North Adams, Massachusetts, and attended Massachusetts College for Liberal Arts for four years majoring in Sociology with a concentration in Forensic Psychology. In 2012, Rachael moved to Florida and worked as a Sheriff’s Department Dispatcher. Alongside being a Sheriff’s Dispatcher, Rachael was certified in Florida as a Realtor, which she maintains presently. She has also obtained/maintains a Florida Private Investigator and Security certification. Rachael is a member of Florida Association for Private Investigators and lifetime member of the NRA. She is certified through the 18th Judicial Court (Brevard and Seminole County) as a Certified Process Server and Notary. 

Rachael regularly attends Melbourne Community Relations meetings and actively volunteers in the community for events bettering the lagoon and neighborhood improvements. You can observe Rachael participating with her hobby of shooting at various rifle and pistol ranges along with attending local art and crafts shows, placing her wood carvings and paintings exhibits in local and national art shows.

Council Member Bassett is an alternate voting delegate for the city with the Space Coast League of Cities.

District 4 covers an area that begins north of Orlando-Melbourne International Airport and extends south to Palm Bay Road. Babcock Street serves as the district's primary border to the east, and the City of West Melbourne is the district's primary border to the west (map of Council Districts).
