The board’s duties include: develop an environmental sustainability plan for city operations with a goal of achieving 100% clean energy by 2035; assess and track implementation of the plan and provide an annual report to the City Council on same; and review ordinances and policies that have an environmental impact on the city. Initiatives of the board may include:  research, identify, and recommend to the public affordable strategies associated with conservation, renewable energy, and energy efficiency, along with financial incentives and resources that may be available to offset costs; and recognize the efforts of others who contribute to the beautification, environmental protection, and enhancement of the city.
