Affordable housing development is a high priority in the City of Melbourne. The State of Florida's Live Local Act, which became effective July 1, 2023, contains comprehensive legislation intended to incentivize the development of affordable housing across the state of Florida.

In accordance with the provisions of the Live Local Act an inventory list of all real property, including those properties owned by dependent special districts, that is appropriate for use as affordable housing will be made available on this page of the City’s website to encourage potential development:
