The Melbourne Police Department provides a Prescription Drop Box for the safe disposal of unneeded medications.

The Melbourne Police Department Prescription Drop Box accepts all prescription, non-prescription, over-the-counter pills, ointments, lotions and liquids. No syringes, asthma inhalers, aerosol canisters or chemotherapy drugs.

Location

Melbourne Police Department
650 North Apollo Boulevard

Hours

8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday-Friday

Other disposal locations include Brevard County Sheriff's Office precinct offices and most local pharmacies.

It’s important to safely dispose of any prescription medications that have expired or that you no longer need. However, it’s not safe to throw them in the trash or to flush them down the toilet or sink — this can be harmful to the environment.
