An employee’s personal appearance has an impact on how the City is perceived by the public and the people it serves. Employees are expected to present themselves in a professional manner and maintain grooming and clothing standards based on the job held. This includes clean clothing or uniform, good grooming and personal hygiene. Employees are expected to report to work free from body odor or strong scents of any kind.

An employee found to be in violation of this policy will be counseled and may be sent home using his accrued vacation or compensatory leave to change clothing. Subsequent violations may be cause for disciplinary action.

If employees have questions regarding this policy or its application to a specific situation or need for accommodation, they should notify their supervisor, and if necessary, contact Human Resources.
