Work Performed on an Observed Holiday
Non-exempt employees who are required to work on an observed holiday shall be paid one and one-half times the hourly rate of pay for those hours actually worked in addition to receiving straight time holiday pay. Exempt employees shall earn hour for hour compensatory time for the time worked on an observed holiday in addition to receiving holiday pay.
Eligibility
All regular full-time employees are eligible for holiday pay at their regular rate of pay if the employee works the scheduled day before and the scheduled work day following the holiday, or is on authorized paid leave. Authorized paid leave for the purposes of this Policy is defined as bereavement leave, pre-approved vacation leave, any leave covered by FMLA while in a paid status, sick leave which is verified by a doctor’s note, or any leave granted to an employee due to an unexpected emergency that is approved by the Department Director. Employees in an unpaid status prior to the holiday will not be paid for the holiday.
Holidays for Part-time Regular Employees
Part-time employees who occupy regularly established budgeted positions shall be paid for observed holidays that fall on days for which they would otherwise be scheduled to work, according to the number of hours for which they are scheduled to work on that day.
Holidays while on approved Family and Medical Leave (FMLA), Workers Compensation Leave, and Leaves of Absence without Pay
Employees absent from work due to FMLA or Workers Compensation covered leave who are in a paid status are eligible for holiday pay. Employees on a leave of absence without pay are not eligible for holiday pay.
